Pathway Coaching

As our lives evolve there are certain times when we know it is time to step off one path and on to another. The first step is to look at yourself and your situation with fresh eyes. A new page is turning. You have changed, you have some more life under your belt, it is important to make new and different choices that will bring you internal satisfaction as well as external success. Pathway coaching is an opportunity to thoughtfully open a newly fulfilling life phase that honors your authentic “best” self, your values, and the experiences you need to generate energy and joy in your life.

The group experience allows you to maintain your privacy and still benefit from the observations and perceptions of others to gain added perspectives and eliminate blind spots.

The “best of both worlds,” the Group Edition also includes a one-on-one telephone session. The group experience is a one-day intensive session followed by a 90-minute individual follow-up telephone session to personalize the application of the learning.

You’ve got to know yourself so that you can at last be yourself. –D.H. Lawrence, writer

Transition Workshops

What do we do when we are no longer young and not yet old? When I was young, in the early 1940’s, the term “Teenager” was still relatively new. Making the distinction between childhood and adulthood caused a radical shift in social consciousness that had not been recognized. It heralded a time and an expectation by others that we could and would behave in ways different from children and adults. This is another such time.

There have never been so many of us that are destined this live this long in such good health. The name “Boomers” refers to a group of people that were born in a specific span of years after WWII. Although currently it refers to a group of people of a certain age, it is not a life stage. In order to distinguish this life stage so we can celibate it’s uniqueness, it needs a name.

When I was in my late 40’s I realized that there was a profound shift in how we saw ourselves, and discovered we had entered into an unexplored new time of life. Now that I’m in my 70’s I see that there is yet another life quarter to explore. I have divided life into four twenty-five-year quarters. Q1, Youth, 1-25 is all about learning, Q2, 25-50, our Adult years, is about providing for ourselves and future generations. I am calling Q3 50-75, when we are no longer young and not yet old, Renaissance, which Webster defines as a “movement or period of vigorous intellectual and artistic activity”.  And finally, I am calling Q4, 75-100, Denouement, which Webster defines as “the climax of a chain of events, usually when something is decided or made clear.”

I am offering two different but similar weekends to explore, identify, and celebrate these uniquely rich and robust life stages. The Renaissance and the Denouement weekends are rites of passages where we go through a series of exercises to complete the life we have had and step into our chosen new future.

Weekend Courses

Take calculated risks. That is quite different from being rash. –George S. Patton, U.S. Army general

The Benefits of Working with Sydney

  • SOUNDING BOARD – Often, we use our friends and family to sort our ideas and get suggestions and advice. This is not a bad thing, but it can lack the objectivity needed to bring old beliefs, perspectives, ideas, assumptions and concerns to light so they can be challenged, and expanded.
  • FRESH PERSPECTIVE – Outside perspective is essential as a catalyst for creative, life-changing decisions. Additionally, outside input is necessary in order to uncover blind spots and self-limiting beliefs or habits and move past them. We all need an objective, supportive confidant with whom to complain, vent, confide in, and think things through.
  • SUCCESSFUL CHOICES – The best life choices will be rewarding, challenging and internally and externally fulfilling. They will honor both needs and values and create a life in balance.
  • EXPERIENCE – Benefit from Sydney’s 30 years of experience, creativity, intuitive insight and positive outlook that have benefited hundreds of people from all walks of life.
